    Preheat: oven to 160°C and line a 9" x 9" baking dish with parchment paper.

    Melt: the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

    Beat: eggs, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer for 7–10 minutes until light and fluffy.

    Combine: chocolate mixture and sourdough discard into the egg mixture. Mix on low until just combined.

  5. 5.

    Fold: in flour and salt using a spatula. Batter will be thick.

  6. 6.

    Pour: batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top.

  7. 7.

    Bake: for 35–40 minutes, until set in the centre.

  8. 8.

    Cool: completely in the pan. Lift out using parchment and cut into squares.
