Vegemite Scroll
Ingredients
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 100 g cheese
- 1 egg
- 360 g flour
- 187 g milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 150 g sourdough discard
- 60 g unsalted butter
- 20 g unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp vegemite
Method
- 1.
Mix: warm milk an discard together in bowl.
- 2.
Melt: butter (for the dough) in 15 second burst in microwave.
- 3.
Add: egg and butter (for the dough) to the milk & discard.
- 4.
Mix in: four, salt, baking powder and baking soda until shaggy dough forms. Cover and rest for 20-30mins.
- 5.
Uncover: and knead for 5 minutes. Rest for another 30 minutes.
- 6.
Preheat oven: to 180°c.
- 7.
Melt: butter (for the dough) in 15 second burst in microwave, mix together with Vegemite.
- 8.
Roll out dough: into square.
- 9.
Spread: Vegemite mixture across dough & sprinkle the cheese evenly (save some for topping).
- 10.
Cut up: dough into 12 strips (a pizza cutter is good for this) & roll each up.
- 11.
Place on oven tray evenly: and sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
- 12.
Bake: covered at 180°c for 10 mins.
- 13.
Remove lid and bake for a further 10 mins.
